Two prints

The tunic is printed with repeating geometric shapes at a moderate density, while the dupatta goes fuller with florals and paisleys. Terracotta and mustard run through the blue, with white and gold as accents, and a broad solid horizontal band at the hem stops the two patterns from competing.

Styling

Mixing prints deliberately is what saves this set from looking like everything else on a rack, but it needs a plain finish: a straight kurta, no contrast piping, and the hem band left whole. Terracotta or mustard jewellery, or plain gold. Wear it to work with the dupatta folded narrow, and open it out for a festive afternoon.

Each print was stamped separately, so their alignment differs slightly from piece to piece.

Two prints mean two sets of carved blocks and two passes through the workshop. The geometry for the tunic, the paisleys and florals for the dupatta, each with its own registration to hold. Artisans in Bhagalpur print them separately and match the palette across both, so a set that started as three plain lengths ends up reading as one design.

1. How do I know this is hand block printed and not machine printed?
Look at the repeats. Hand block printing leaves tiny shifts where one carved wooden block meets the next, and a little variation in how deeply the colour sits. Screen and machine printing repeat perfectly. Every metre of this set was stamped by hand in Bhagalpur, so those small differences are the proof, not a flaw.

2. Do the tunic and dupatta match?
They are deliberately different. The tunic carries a geometric block print and the dupatta a denser floral and paisley one, tied together by the same blue, terracotta and mustard palette.

3. What comes in the set, and can it be stitched for a larger size?
Three unstitched pieces: a top of 2.5 m, a bottom of 2.5 m, both 44 to 45 inches wide, and a dupatta of 2.5 m at 35 to 36 inches. That meterage lets a tailor cut it to your exact fit, up to 4XL, and the length can be customised for larger sizes.

4. Will the colours bleed in the wash?
No. The fabric is colour-fast and does not bleed on the first wash, so the terracotta and mustard stay off the lighter areas.

5. What if I do not like the shade when it arrives?
Exchange is available if the shade or the quality is not what you loved. Screens do shift colour a little, so the fabric can read slightly warmer or cooler in daylight than it does on your phone.
