The grid

Deep teal blue and pale grey sit in alternating rectangles, one panel filled with a solid leaf motif and the next ruled with vertical stripes, with pink surfacing in the smaller details. The edges of each piece are cut straight and clean, which lets the grid do all the decorating.

Styling

This is a quiet, structured print, which makes it easy office and daily wear. A straight kurta with a narrow pant keeps the panels aligned; ask your tailor to match the grid across the front seam, and keep accessories minimal so the two rhythms stay legible.

Because every impression is stamped by hand, small shifts in the print are part of the piece, not a fault in it.

The two blocks that build this fabric are cut separately in Bhagalpur, one carrying the leaf, one the stripe, and the printer alternates them by hand along the length of the Katan silk. Teal takes the light well on silk, which is why the pale grey panels read as breaks rather than gaps. Every impression is placed by hand, so the small shifts where two blocks meet are the artisan's signature rather than a fault.

1. How can I be sure this is hand block printed rather than screen printed?
Look closely at the repeats. Every motif is stamped from a hand-carved wooden block, so the register shifts a little and no two impressions land identically. A screen or machine print gives a flat, perfectly uniform repeat; this one does not.

2. Will the pink run into the pale grey panels?
No. The fabric is colour-fast and does not bleed on the first wash, so lighter areas of the print stay clean.

3. Is there enough fabric for a plus size?
