How is the colour split arranged?
The mustard body runs the length of the saree and the dark olive green begins at the pallu, with the golden double design border running along both edges of the drape.
What exactly arrives, and what are the measurements?
An unstitched Maheshwari silk drape measuring 6.3-6.5 m in total length and 45-46 inches wide, weighing 350-360 g at 44-46 GSM. The total length includes an attached, unstitched blouse piece of 80-90 cm, which is included in the stated price. Fall, pico and edge finishing are not done before dispatch, but we will do them on request.
How can I tell this is not a powerloom piece?
It is handwoven on a pit loom, with the weft inserted by hand and the patterning on body, border and pallu set on a dobby. It is woven in Mominpura, Maheshwar, Khargone district, Madhya Pradesh, and the Handloom Mark is held with the registration on record. The Handloom Mark is held with the registration on record, and every piece is checked before it leaves us. Nothing we sell is machine-woven.
What does bugdi mean?
Bugdi describes the woven border design, which reads the same on both faces of the border. It is a feature you can turn over in your hand and see for yourself.
What is a flower buti?
Buti is the small woven motif scattered across a saree, worked into the cloth on the loom rather than printed or embroidered on afterwards. A flower buti is that motif in a floral shape. On this piece they are sparse and gold-worked on the mustard body, and denser on the olive green pallu.
Is the fabric see-through, and what do I wear under it?
The body is semi-sheer, which is what gives the saree its weight of 350-360 g and its 44-46 GSM. Wear it with a petticoat in a matching or complementary shade. The same lightness is why it drapes softly and holds its pleats through a long evening.
Will the colour I receive match the photograph?
Every handloom saree is individually woven by skilled artisans. Slight variations in weave, texture, and colour are natural characteristics of handcrafted textiles and reflect the authenticity of genuine artisan craftsmanship. Colours may vary slightly between screens and in natural light If the shade does not match or you are unhappy with the quality, we will exchange the piece.
How should I clean and store it?
Dry clean only. Air-dry in shade without wringing, iron inside out on low to medium heat under a cotton press cloth, then store the saree wrapped in breathable cotton or muslin in a cool dark cupboard, refolding it every three to six months. Home washing is not recommended.
Is this suitable for daytime events?
Yes. It suits lighter daytime occasions, festival and festive wear, formal and ethnic events, party wear, and weddings or receptions attended as a guest.
What is your return and exchange window?
Returns and exchanges are accepted within two days, provided the piece is unused, with its tags intact and in its original packaging. Exchange is also offered where the colour does not match or you are dissatisfied with the quality.
