Rather than one colour across all three pieces, this set is built from panels: dusty rose set against blue, framed by rectangular horizontal bands of repeating floral and star-like geometric blocks in white and gold. The pattern sits dense across the set, which is why the panel edges read so cleanly.

Styling

Ask your tailor to keep the panel divisions at the yoke or the hem rather than cutting through them, and the colour blocking does the design work for you. Pearl or gold jewellery picks up the lighter blocks. Two-tone panelling like this is usually a woven effect on expensive silk; here it is printed by hand, block by block, which is what puts it in this price band.

Each panel edge was aligned by eye and by hand, so the meeting points vary a little across the length.

Every colour in this set went down separately. The artisans in Bhagalpur print one shade, let it settle, then return with another carved block for the next, aligning the panel edges by eye alone. The white and gold geometry that frames the rose and blue is the last pass, laid band by band along the fabric until the whole length is covered.

1. How do I know this is hand block printed and not machine printed?
Look at the repeats. Hand block printing leaves tiny shifts where one carved wooden block meets the next, and a little variation in how deeply the colour sits. Screen and machine printing repeat perfectly. Every metre of this set was stamped by hand in Bhagalpur, so those small differences are the proof, not a flaw.

2. Will the rose and blue run into each other in the wash?
No. The fabric is colour-fast and does not bleed on the first wash, so the lighter rose panels stay clean against the blue.

3. What comes in the set, and can it be stitched for a larger size?
Three unstitched pieces: a top of 2.5 m, a bottom of 2.5 m, both 44 to 45 inches wide, and a dupatta of 2.5 m at 35 to 36 inches. That meterage lets a tailor cut it to your exact fit, up to 4XL, and the length can be customised for larger sizes.

4. How should I have the panels cut?
Show your tailor the full length before cutting and ask to keep the printed bands whole at the hem, the yoke or the sleeve edge. With 2.5 m in each piece there is enough fabric to place the panels where you want them.

5. What if I do not like the shade when it arrives?
Exchange is available if the shade or the quality is not what you loved. Screens do shift colour a little, so the fabric can read slightly warmer or cooler in daylight than it does on your phone.
