The two-tone pairing
Figurative folk silhouettes and abstract geometric shapes run all over the indigo, while the dupatta keeps its motifs sparse and saves the drama for its bordered ends. Yellow figure borders repeat at the edges of both, which is what ties the two colours together.
The olive piece is left plain on purpose. It is the rest your eye needs against a high-density print, and it means the set never looks busy when stitched.
Silk, fit and wear
Katan silk holds a matte, grounded finish here rather than a shine, with the drape you expect from silk and the opacity to skip a lining. The full set weighs 600 to 650 g.
Stitch the indigo as the kurta and the olive as the salwar for the strongest reading of the pairing, or reverse it for a softer one. Mustard or antique gold jewellery picks up the borders. Genuine hand block work on Katan silk sits well below the price of a premium Banarasi katan suit and does not read as a compromise.

Which piece is printed and which is plain?
The printed indigo carries the folk and geometric motifs and the dupatta carries them at its ends, while the olive green piece is a plain solid. You receive all three as unstitched fabric, so you decide which becomes the kurta and which the salwar.
Will the indigo run onto the olive green in the wash?
No. The fabric is colour-fast and does not bleed on the first wash. Dry clean it the first time, then a gentle cold hand wash keeps it looking new.
Does this need a lining?
No. The fabric is opaque, so no lining or aster is needed. Some customers still add one to elevate the drape, but that is a styling choice rather than a requirement.
How much fabric is in the set?
Three unstitched pieces: a top of 2.5 metres and a bottom of 2.5 metres, both 44 to 45 inches wide, and a dupatta of 2.5 metres at 35 to 36 inches wide.
Can my tailor stitch this to a larger size?
Yes. There is enough fabric to stitch a straight kurta set up to 4XL, and the length can be customised for larger sizes.
