Red, figures and border

The human figures are stamped small and dense, so from a distance the red carries a warm golden shimmer and only resolves into folk art when you look properly. Rectangular panels with botanical and geometric bands finish the bottom edge.

Grey grounds part of the set and green appears in the accents, which is why this red survives daylight as easily as lamplight.

Does a red this strong bleed in the first wash?
No. The fabric is colour-fast and does not bleed on the first wash. Dry clean it the first time, then a gentle cold hand wash keeps it looking new.

Is the print done by hand or by machine?
Look closely at the repeats. Every motif is stamped from a hand-carved wooden block, so the spacing shifts a little from one impression to the next and the colour sits slightly differently in each. A screen or machine print gives a flawless, identical repeat; this one never does, and that is your proof it was printed by hand.
